The 1999 LACASIS Business Meeting and Presentation Program was held on June 15 at the Los Angeles Times. The Los Angeles Times Editorial Library recently expanded the scope and services of its image archiving system to fully support the LA Times' Photo Department's image processing and production functions for the daily paper. Speaker Bill Lawrence, Database Architect for the Editorial Library of the Los Angeles Times, demonstrated the LA Times Library Image Archive and new Live Image Database, and previewed the Library's exciting Web site management tool.
The LACASIS Business Meeting and Presentation Program was held on June 10 at the Olympic Collection. Joyce Adams, Web Site Operations Manager for Experian (http://www.experian.com/) presented tips and tools used in the design and maintainance of Web sites. Topics discussed ranged from HTML to Java; including design considerations for planning Web sites.
The LACASIS Business Meeting and Presentation Program was held on Wednesday, June 18, 1997. The topic was Does Multimedia = Interactivity?. Robert Doeil, Programmer/System Analyst, and Karen Howell, Co-Coordinator, both with the Center for Scholarly Technology of the University Libraries at the University of Southern California, presented a comparison of JAVA, Macromedia Director, and VRML, and discussed relative strength and weaknesses of each of them in the creation of multimedia applications.
Dr. Ken Metzner of Academic Press will discuss the publisher's venture into electronic publishing. The International Digital Electronic Access Library, IDEAL, presents the full array of Academic Press journals on the World Wide Web. LACASIS will also hold its annual business meeting.
